2024 SUMMER ORIENTATION
Congratulations on your decision to attend Capital University!
We are excited to welcome you, your parents, families, and guests to the Capital Family – and it all starts with Summer Orientation. Summer Orientation is an important time to get your Capital career started off smoothly. You will register for classes, learn more about academic and graduation requirements (yes, already!), experience ways to get involved on campus, meet current students who will help guide you on your way, and more. You will also receive and set up your Project Indigo! iPad and Apple Pencil. We’ll take care of your breakfast and lunch and making sure you get all the information you need. We are excited to get to know you!
PRE-ORIENTATION CHECKLIST
Before attending your Summer Orientation date, you will need to complete all the tasks (outlined below) in your Pre-Orientation Checklist. The Pre-Orientation Checklist opens annually for deposited students in March.
SELECT A SUMMER ORIENTATION DATE
At Summer Orientation, you will finalize your Fall 2024 schedule, meet other incoming students as well as current students, faculty, and staff… all while learning a ton more about campus! Summer Orientation dates are below. Summer Orientation runs 8:30am – 5pm, so plan on spending the whole day with us. We have special programming for parents, families, and guests also, so feel free to bring them along with you!
You can choose from these dates:
- Saturday, June 8
- Tuesday, June 11
- Thursday, June 13
- Tuesday, June 18
- Friday, July 12
Transfer students can join the following date designed specifically for them:
- Wednesday, July 10 (transfer)
PLACEMENT TOOLS
All students will use Math and English placement tools to help assess the best courses for you to enroll in for fall semester. These are not for a grade, and you should not use the internet, a friend, or a family member for assistance. Do the best of you can and that will help us help you build a great schedule. Students who have taken French, German, Russian or Spanish should plan to take the language placement tool, even if your major does not have a language requirement – world languages make great minors and you never know what the requirements will be if you change your major.
HOUSING APPLICATION OR HOUSING RELEASE FORM
Living on campus can be an integral part of your experience at Capital University. All undergraduate students must reside on campus unless they meet the criteria for a housing release. Residential students will apply for housing through the Housing Application. Students living in the residence halls must also purchase a meal plan. Students who live within a 30-mile radius are able to commute from their home address. Commuter students are welcome and encouraged to purchase a meal plan. All students planning to commute must complete the Housing Release Request Form. Preferred deadline for completing the Housing Application or Release Form is June 15, 2024.
UPLOAD PHOTO FOR CAPITAL STUDENT ID
Your Capital Student ID is a vital part of your day-to-day life on campus. It serves as the key to your residence hall and other campus buildings, your meal plan, and your COTA bus pass. It also works like a debit card when you use your CapBucks at different restaurants on Main Street. You will receive your ID when you come to campus for Welcome Weekend in August.
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES
Capital University welcomes individuals with disabilities to be an integral part of the university community. Accessibility Services (AS) provides individualized services for students with disability related needs. Service areas include admission, academics, housing, employment, facilities accessibility, and social/personal issues related to disability. Applications for housing accommodations for first-year or transfer students is June 15, 2024. For more information, please visit http://wynp.zb-fc.com/about/accessibility-services. We are happy to help!
